All over the rural town of Grandville, tacked to power poles and trees, taped to store windows, flyers have appeared announcing the one-night-only performance of The Travelling Vampire Show. The promised highlight of the show is the gorgeous Valeria, the only living vampire in captivity. For three local teenagers, two boys and a girl, this is a show they can't miss. Even though the flyers say no one under eighteen will be admitted, they're determined to find a way.
What follows is a story of friendship and courage, temptation and terror, when three friends go where they shouldn't go, and find much more than they ever expected. What readers are saying about The Travelling Vampire Show: Toon meer Toon minder.

People are literally getting murdered, lives are endangered, and the guy is only thinking of the women in a sexual way. His girlfriend spends the entire book being jealous of him looking at her sisters and her mother!
Her very life's in danger as well as being stranded in a deserted island and she's concerned with him peeking at another woman??? And his only concern is getting some. From anyone who is willing, or not. Could have been a decent story but for all that stupidity. A peaceful picnic on a secluded island; mom, dad, their two daughters and their hubbies, and their unmarried daughter and her date.
What could possibly go wrong? That's right. I wanted to like this novel more.
And I understand that Richard Laymon is considered to have been an incredible writer of horror fiction--but I'm just not feeling it. The narrator is a horny teenage boy who, despite the systematic gory elimination of the members of the party, never passes up a chance to sneak a peek or play grab ass.
The female characters are vacuous bimbos with no sense of survival, the males are caricatures of your standard deserted island characters, and the villains are so over-the -top awful as to be laughable.
I felt like I was watching one of those campy, deliberately bad movies that you catch on late night cable. Except this lasted a lot longer.
The ending has a twist. But by the time it came along all I could say was thank heavens I'm finished. This is a dark story, not for the faint of heart. I was able to figure it out early on, but there were a few twists that kept me reading.
This is definitely not the type of horror that people are used to reading. It has a raw feel to it, and makes you uncomfortable as you read.
I had great hopes for this book. The setting and premise was great, however, by a third of the way through- I was done. The author spent an inordinately amount of time describing female anatomy. Although the setting was an island, and this is how everyone dressed, I felt the book could have been pages shorter without this. If this is your thing-go for it.
I felt it detracted from the story. Very sophomoric.
It was just a sick porno book. After I saw what it was I just passed to each chapter hoping for a storyline. It was all the same 'dirt". Not worth 99cents. There was NO horror except the horror that this author would stoop so base.
I read all the praises this author was given. I hope his other books aren't like this one.
